About Working Cocker Spaniels
Over years the cocker spaniel has been bred into two types of cockers, the working type and the show type.
The working cocker spaniel is a tireless, enthusiastic hunter. Its small size allows it easy access everywhere so it can methodically explore and discover game where other dogs cannot. Unmatched in hunting woodcook or pheasant, the cocker can also flush out partridge and will wade fearlessly into any type of ground to pick up birds as they are also exceptional retrievers.
The working cocker is also a great family pet. It is admired for its size, elegance and biddable temperament, its soft coat and beautiful head. They like to take an active interest in family life and are extremely loyal and devoted pets who don't want to miss out on any adventure!
As with any type of dog you choose to own, cockers need consistency in their training, reward good behavior tenfold as your cocker will remember this, and will always try to please you.
Rudyard Kipling once wrote about his cocker spaniel;
" He is my greatest fan, yet he has never read a book that I have written"
